MIGUEL ROJAS

MIGUEL ROJAS

Miguel Rojas, born in Venezuela, signed an amateur free agent contract with the Cincinnati Reds in 2005, which led him three seasons later to Billings, where he spent the 2008 season with the Mustangs. Rojas played 61 games as the team’s starting shortstop and helped the Mustangs to a 42-32 record under manager Julio Garcia. Rojas spent the next four seasons in the Cincinnati Reds minor league system, then entered free agency and signed a minor league deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Just a season later, in 2014, Rojas would make his Major League debut with the Dodgers, in a season where he would play 85 games in a utility role off the bench. Rojas was traded to the Miami Marlins following the 2014 season in a multi-team deal that included six other players. An everyday player with Miami, Rojas produced two of his best statistical seasons of his big-league career in 2020 and 2021. He finished the shortened 2020 season with a career high .304 batting average, helping the Miami Marlins to their first playoff berth and playoff series win in 17 years. Rojas enters his 9th season in the majors at age 33, looking to continue to make an impact on a Marlins team building for another playoff run.
