History Made In 28-11 Win Over Ogden

In an electrifying display of offensive firepower, the Billings Mustangs extended their remarkable nine-game winning streak with a resounding 28-11 victory over the Ogden Raptors.

The most striking aspect of this game was the Mustangs' relentless scoring, as they recorded 28 runs on an astonishing 27 hits. This marked the first time in nearly three decades that the Mustangs had scored 20 runs or more in back-to-back games, with the last occurrence dating back to 1994.

One of the standout performers of the day was Gabe Wurtz. The right fielder had a career day, driving in an impressive six runs, a feat that had not been seen this season. His prowess at the plate was instrumental in the Mustangs' offensive explosion. He also became the sixth Mustang this year to have two homers in a game, and Wurtz now has four homers in the span of three games - going yard in three straight.

Not to be outdone, shortstop Blake Evans made his mark in the record books as well. Evans became the first Mustang this year to collect five hits in a single game, showcasing his exceptional batting skills.

The game got off to an exciting start with the Raptors taking an early lead in the first inning. However, the Mustangs responded swiftly, with Alejandro Figueredo smashing a home run in the second inning to put them on the scoreboard.

The turning point of the game came in the third inning when the Mustangs erupted for an astounding 10 runs. Taylor Lomack, Connor Denning, and Gabe Wurtz all had big hits, while Brendan Ryan and Blake Evans also contributed significantly. By the end of the inning, the Mustangs had taken a commanding 11-4 lead.

The offensive onslaught continued in the fourth inning as Blake Evans, Luke Fennelly, and Emmanuel Sanchez played key roles in extending the Mustangs' lead.

While the Raptors managed to add some runs, they couldn't keep pace with the relentless Mustangs. The final score of 28-11 underscored the historic nature of this game.

With this victory, the Billings Mustangs not only extended their winning streak to nine games but also made a bold statement to the rest of the league. The Mustangs are, at worst, only two games behind the Missoula Paddleheads for the second-half North Division title race.
