Mustangs Walked Off in 14-13 Loss
Mustangs had the game tied entering the bottom of the ninth.
A walk-off hands the Mustangs heartbreak as they lose to the Rocky Mountain Vibes 14-13.
The Mustangs tied the game down three runs in the top of the ninth on a three-run home run by Mitch Moralez, but could not bring home the go-ahead run, nor could they hold the Vibes off the board in the ninth.
The Mustangs took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning with a pair of one-out singles by Brendan Ryan and Patrick Mills. Ryan scored on a wild pitch to make it 1-0.
Eddie McCabe singled home Brett Carson in the bottom of the first, while Steven Rivas hit a two-run home run 495 feet to make it 3-1. Ernie Yakie hit a RBI single to make it 4-1.
The Mustangs tied it in the top of the second with a leadoff home run by Travis Holt, a RBI single by Taylor Lomack with a stolen base by Lomack which scored Evans to make it 4-4.
In the third, Alejandro Figueredo doubled to lead off the inning. He advanced on a groundout and scored on a sac-fly by Holt. Two more scored on an RBI double by Blake Evans, with an error scoring Issac Lovings to make it 7-4.
The Vibes picked up an RBI single in the home half of that inning by Sam Thompson.
The Mustangs suffered a three-run homer by Josh Day off of Luke Trueman, which signaled the end of his night and made it 8-7.
The Mustangs had a leadoff triple by Lomack, and he scored on a sac-fly by Mills to make it 8-8.
The Vibes scored again in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single by Yake, after Wilmer hit a one-out double to take a 9-8 lead.
The Mustangs tied it again in the seventh with a RBI single by Mitch Moralez to make it 9-9.
The Vibes had a big inning off Mustang right-hander Brendan Medoro with three hits in a row, a single by Carson, a double by McCabe, a two-RBI single by Rivas. Dane Toftland had a sacrifice bunt to move the runners over, while Stephen Wilmer singled home another run, with a RBI double by Yake made it 13-9.
The Mustangs picked up an RBI single by Ryan in the eighth to make it 13-10.
Jonathan Haab tossed a scoreless inning and left the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth.
Briley Knight and Holt both walked to lead off the ninth, and in a 2-2 count, Mitch Moralez hit a game-tying three run home run to make it 13-13.
In the bottom of the ninth, Josh Day greeted Trevor Jackson with a single, while Yake tried to bunt him over, but the throw from Jackson went low and both runners were safe. The same happened with Mason Sykes bunting to advance both runners, but Holt threw a ball low to load the bases, while Thompson singled home Day to give the Vibes the win.
