Mustangs Right the Ship

Mustangs snap a five-game losing streak with a 7-2 win over Glacier Friday night. 

 

The win keeps the Mustangs' playoff hopes alive with eight games left to play. 

 

Billings took an early 1-0 lead in the first as Jerry Huntzinger hit Brendan Ryan and Connor Denning with a pitch, while Dylan Leach singled with one out. Gary Lora hit a soft ground ball to bring home Ryan to give the Ponies the advantage. 

 

Glacier left the bases loaded in the second, on behalf of some crafty pitching by Ethan Ross

 

Ross gave up a run in the third, but worked out of a bases-loaded jam to keep it a 1-1 game. 

 

The Mustangs collected a two-out RBI single from Gary Lora in the third to make it a 2-1 game. 

 

Kyle Booker and Ryan combined to give the Mustangs a 3-1 advantage in the bottom of the sixth. Booker singled with two outs and Ryan brought him home on a double to make it a two-run lead. 

 

Glacier had the bases loaded in the seventh, but only managed to bring home one run on an RBI double by Ty Penner to make it 3-2. 

 

Blake Evans came through with two outs in the seventh on a three-run triple to lead 6-2. Abe Valdez hit a two-out single to bring home Leach to give the Mustangs a 7-2 lead. 

 

Ethan Ross tossed four innings giving up one unearned run on four hits with four walks and three strikeouts. Earl Johnson earned his first Mustangs win twirling two scoreless innings giving up two walks and two hits with a strikeout. 

 

Brendan Medoro spun two innings giving up a run on three hits with a walk and a strikeout. Joey Hennessey tossed a scoreless ninth giving up a hit with a walk and two strikeouts.
